1 cup large-curd creamed cottage cheese
 
1 cup cream
 
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
 
1/4 teaspoon salt
 
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
 
5 egg yolks, slightly beaten
 
1/4 cup butter, melted
 
5 egg whites
 
1 unbaked 9 in. pie shell

Directions

Force cottage cheese through a fine sieve into a bowl.
Stir in the cream, confectioners' sugar, salt, nutmeg, beaten egg yolks, and melted butter.
Beat egg whites until stiff, not dry, peaks are formed.
Fold into cheese mixture until blended.
Turn into the pie shell.
Bake at 450°F 10 minutes.
Reduce oven temperature to 350°F; bake about 20 minutes, or until custard tests done.
