Directions

Using extra-heavy-duty aluminum foil, assemble the dinner in this order: Place two slices of onion on bottom (they will steam and prevent the meat from sticking to the foil). Place meat on top of onions; then add carrot and mushroom slices and salt and pepper as desired. Top with two more onion slices. Fold and completely seal the foil. Wrap again, having the sealed edges on opposite sides to discourage leaking and burning. Place carefully on top of coals or on barbecue grill. Cook about 12 to 15 minutes on each side, turning carefully to avoid puncturing the foil. For extra vegetables: Slice potatoes, carrots, and onions, and place in extra heavy foil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, and dot with butter or margarine. Add cheese, pickles, olives, or celery, if desired. Fold as for foil dinners and cook along with the dinners. Hot rolls or a loaf of bread may be warmed the same way for a complete hot dinner.
