Florentines Recipe
Florentine is a baked mixture of toasted nuts and candied fruits. This confection was very popular in Europe and then spread all over the world. You may find it a bit high calorie food, but it is delicious and you will love Florentine.

Ingredients
| Eggs | 3 Small | |
| Sugar | 1 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| All-purpose flour - 3 tablespoons, sifted | ||
| Baking powder | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Semi-sweet chocolate morsels-1 package (1 cup), ground | ||
| Candied orange peel | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Shortening | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Blanched almonds | 1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), finely chopped | |
| Vanilla | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Cinnamon | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Cloves | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Nutmeg | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Lemon rind-1 teaspoon, grated | ||
Directions
MAKING
1)In a bowl, beat eggs until thick.
2)Slowly add sugar and continue beating until very thick.
3)Add flour and baking powder to egg mixture.
4)Add remaining ingredients and blend well.
5)Take a baking sheet lined with browned paper and drop spoonsful, 2 inches apart.
6)Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Cool on brown paper.
7)To remove cookies, wet paper underneath cookies and peel them off.
SERVING
8)Serve the Florentines when desired.
