Gradually stir in milk.
Heat, uncovered, on roast for 5 minutes or until mixture just about boils.
DO NOT ALLOW MIXTURE TO BOIL.
Stir mixture occasionally during last half of cooking.
Add the 1/2 teaspoon vanilla and chill until ready to serve.
Just before serving time, beat egg whites until stiff but not dry.
Beat in the 4 tablespoons of sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, until mixture forms stiff peaks.
Beat in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.
Divide the strawberries among 4 heat-resistant, non-metallic dessert dishes.
Pour chilled custard over berries.
Place a dollop of egg white mixture in each dessert dish.
Place desserts in microwave oven and heat, uncovered, on roast for 1 minute or until puffs are set.
