 Hickory chips
 Vinegar2 Cup (16 tbs)
 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons shortening
 Butter/Margarine1/2 Cup (16 tbs)

 1 tablespoon plus 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
 Chicken breast halves8

Directions

Soak hickory chips in water to cover at least 1 hour.
Drain.
Combine remaining ingredients except chicken in a medium saucepan; bring to a boil.
Reduce heat, and simmer sauce, uncovered, until shortening and butter melt.
Remove sauce from heat.
Prepare fire in grill; let burn 15 to 20 minutes.
Place wood chips over hot coals.
Baste chicken with sauce, and grill over medium coals 45 to 55 minutes or until done.
Turn and baste every 10 minutes with remaining sauce.
