Fish Tempura Recipe
Ingredients
2 lbs. fish fillets (e.g. haddock, mullet, cod, halibut)
juice 1 lemon
1/2 cup seasoned flour
oil for deep frying
For the Batter:
2/3 cup water
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon oil
1 cup flour
pinch salt and pepper
Directions
1 Mix all the ingredients for the batter in a bowl.
2 Cut the fish fillets into small squares, cubes or strips. Sprinkle with the lemon juice and coat in the seasoned flour.
3 Heat the oil to 375 °F. Dip the fish pieces in the batter and then fry in the hot oil for 3-4 minutes. Drain and dry on absorbent paper. Serve with mayonnaise dips, vegetable salads, and a tartar, horseradish or chili sauce.
