Fish Au Gratin Recipe
This fish au gratin can be prepared with any fish like sole or trout. Flavored with parsley and thyme, the fish au gratin is baked with cheese and breadcrumbs. Enjoyed by everyone, especially the kids, this fish au gratin is a simple and healthy way to satiate the palate.
Ingredients
| 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth or stock | ||
| Flour | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Butter margarine | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Parsley flakes | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Pepper | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Pinch ground thyme | ||
| Whipping cream | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 11/2 pounds sole, trout, pike, or other white fish | ||
| 3 tablespoons grated | ||
| Parmesan, Swiss, or Gruyere cheese | ||
| Dry bread crumbs | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Butter/Margarine | 1 Tablespoon, melted | |
| Lemon juice | 1 Teaspoon | |
Directions
Bring broth to boiling in a small saucepan.
Blend flour into butter and stir into boiling broth.
Cook and stir until thickened.
Reduce heat.
Stir in salt, parsley flakes, pepper, thyme, and cream.
Place fish In a well buttered pan.
Pour sauce over fish.
Bake at 375°F 15 minutes.
Mix cheese, bread crumbs, melted butter, and lemon juice (if desired).
Sprinkle over fish in pan.
Bake about 15 minutes longer, or until fish flakes easily.
