Ingredients

 
1 portion cod, plaice or haddock, filleted and washed
 
Maize flour (cornmeal)
 
Sunflower or soya oil
 
1 portion peeled raw potatoes
 
Deep sunflower or soya oil for frying

Directions

Fish:
Dip the fish in maize flour (cornmeal) to coat it all over.
Heat .a little oil in a frying pan (skillet).
Fry the fish for about 5 minutes on each side (or less if the fillet is thin) until cooked on the inside and with a crisp golden outside.
Chips: 1.
Cut the potato into 'fingers'.
Heat the oil until it begins to smoke slightly.
Put in the chips carefully, a few at a time so as not to make the fat bubble too much.
Turn down the heat a little and cook for about 8 to 10 minutes or until the chips are golden and cooked through.
