First Prize Apple Pie Recipe

| Nutmeg | 1⁄2 Teaspoon | |
| Lemon | 1 , peel grated | |
| Orange | 1 , peel grated | |
| Sugar | 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) | |
| Orange juice | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Light brown sugar | 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), packed | |
| Margarine | 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs) (0.5 Stick) | |

Directions
Pare apples, cut in quarters, core and slice thinly.
Line 9 inch pie pan with pastry.
Combine granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour and nutmeg; rub a little of this mixture into pastry.
Add grated fruit peels to remaining sugar mixture.
Arrange apples in pie pan, sprinkle each layer with some of the sugar mixture.
Sprinkle with orange juice; dot with margarine.
Cut remaining pastry in 1/2 inch wide strips; arrange as lattice over top of pie.
Cut off ends of pastry and crimp around edge of pie.
Bake in 425 degree oven 40 to 45 minutes, until apples are tender.
