Fig Preserves Cake Recipe

11/2 cups sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 cup fig preserves, chopped
1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts Buttermilk Glaze
Directions
Combine dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl; add oil, beating well.
Add eggs, and beat well; then add buttermilk and vanilla, mixing thoroughly.
Stir in preserves and pecans.
Pour batter into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan; bake at 350° for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Cool in pan 10 minutes; remove from pan.
Pour warm Buttermilk Glaze over warm cake.
