 All-purpose flour - 2 tbsp

Directions

MAKING
1. In a bowl, cream butter and sugar together till fluffy, beat egg into it and stir in vanilla and orange rind
2. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder and mix into the creamed mixture alternately with milk and mix into a dough
3. Roll the dough out on a flour dusted surface into thickness of quarter inch and cut strips three inches in size; set them aside
4. In a saucepan, combine together figs, lemon rind and boiling water; add sugar, flour, nutmeg and cinnamon and beat it all well
4. Cook it over a medium flame for five minutes, stirring frequently; allow to cool and spread half the strips with this filling
5. Cut the filled strips into two inch lengths, place on a buttered cookie sheet and bake at 350°F for twenty minutes

SERVING
6. Serve as appropriate
