Favorite Fruit Ice Cream Recipe

3 cups sugar
3 cups milk
3 cups whipping cream or part whipping cream and part evaporated milk
1 cup orange juice or pineapple juice
1/2 cup lemon juice
3 mashed bananas
Directions
Dissolve sugar in milk and cream. Add fruit juices and bananas and freeze in ice cream freezer. Remove dasher and pack for easy serving. Let ripen up to 2 hours if desired. For other fruit flavors, omit or reduce banana, then add a 16- to 20-ounce can crushed pineapple, or 3 cups apricot puree, or crushed peaches, or 2 cups crushed strawberries or raspberries. If sweetened frozen fruits are used, reduce sugar by about 1 cup (taste and adjust sweetness). If fresh fruit other than bananas is used, sprinkle half of sugar on crushed fruit first and allow standing a few minutes before adding rest of sugar to milk-cream. (This is to avoid icy chunks of frozen fruit in the ice cream.)
