Family Swiss Steak Recipe
Ingredients
| 2 lbs. Swiss, family or round steak | ||
| Flour | 2 Tablespoon | |
| 1 tablespoon oil or shortening | ||
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Pepper | 1/8 Teaspoon | |
| Mushroom | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), undrained | |
| Onion | 1 Large, sliced | |
| Tomato juice | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Directions
Cut steak into 6 pieces.
Coat with flour.
Brown on both sides in hot oil in large fry pan.
Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Add mushrooms with liquid, onion and tomato juice.
Cover tightly.
Simmer on top of range or bake at 350° for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
