1 cup flour
 
6 oz. butter
 
11/4 -cups cornflour
 
2/3-cup castor sugar
 
1/2 -cup evaporated milk
 
pinch salt
 
2 tspns. baking powder
 
grated rind of 1 lemon, or
 
1 tspn.flavouring — banana is good

Directions

Beat butter, sugar and evaporated milk till light and fluffy - really beat it! Add grated rind.
Sift in dry ingredients and add very little milk to make a soft consistency.
Bake dessert- spoonsful in greased and floured patty tins at 400° Ffor 10- 15 minutes.
When cool, cut off the tops and cut these in half to form the 'wings'.
Put a little lemon filling (or banana filling, or whatever you fancy with your flavouring), on top of the cakes.
Then over this put a little whipped cream and then put the two 'wings' in place on top of this.
