Classic Egg Bread Recipe

| 1 1/2 cups scalded milk, cooled to lukewarm | ||
| 3 tbsp.sugar | ||
| Salt | 1 Tablespoon | |
| 3 eggs, lightly beaten | ||
| 1/4 cup soft shortening OR butter | ||
| All purpose flour | 7 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Egg yolk | 1 | |
| Cold water | 1 Tablespoon | |

Directions
Measure water, add 1 tbsp.sugar and stir until sugar dissolves.
Sprinkle yeast over and let stand 10 minutes.
Put scalded milk into large bowl.
Add 3 tbsp.sugar, salt, eggs and shortening and beat together.
Cool to lukewarm, stir in yeast.
