Directions
In 1-cup measure, melt butter with milk (1 min.).
Add almond extract; set aside.
In medium mixing bowl, beat eggs until light.
Gradually beat in sugar until eggs are light and thickened, about 2 minutes.
By hand, stir in flour, baking powder, salt and milk mixture until well combined.
Pour into unlined 2-quart (8 x 8) or 1 1/2-quart (10 x 6) baking dish.
Cook uncovered, 4 minutes, 30 seconds until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean (cake should still look moist on top).
While cake is cooking, combine sugar, flour, milk and butter in 2-cup measure for Topping.
After cake has cooked, cook topping, uncovered, 1 minute or until mixture boils, strirring once.
Sprinkle almonds over top of cake; drizzle topping mixture over cake to cover almonds.
Place under broiler until bubbly and light golden brown, 2 to 3 minutes.
