 Cooking oil - 1 tablespoon/15ml
 Stewing beef - 6 ounce 175g, cut into very small pieces
 Onions8 Ounce
 Carrots4 Ounce
 Leek1
 Beef stock, hot - 1/2 pint/1 liter
 Tomato Paste2 Tablespoon
 Mixed herbs1/2 Teaspoon
 Salt To Taste
 Pepper To Taste

Directions

MAKING:
1) Combine chopped beef, onions, carrots, leek and cooking oil in a large dish.
2) Cover the dish and cook for about 5 minutes (stir the contents during this process).
3) Add the remaining ingredients to the dish and cook for about 30 minutes (cover the dish).

SERVING:
4) Set aside the soup for about 15 - 20 minutes and then serve it hot with crusty bread.
