Dutch Open Sandwiches Recipe
Ingredients
| Rye bread slice | 2 | |
| Butter | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Ham slice | 2 | |
| Grated gouda cheese | 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs) | |
| Cucumber slice | 4 (For Garnish) | |
| Red pepper rings | 2 (For Garnish) | |
| Parsley sprigs | 1 (For Garnish) |
Directions
Spread the bread with butter.
Arrange the ham slices on top, then the grated cheese.
Garnish each elaborately with the cucumber, red pepper and parsley.
These sandwiches are easier to eat with a knife and fork.
Variations: Use the ham and cheese as a base, then add a selection of the following toppings: tomato slices; mustard and cress; shredded lettuce; halved green olives; gherkin fans; spring onions (scallions); watercress; red cabbage; green pepper rings; walnuts; pineapple rings; cocktail cherries; radish slices.
