Ingredients

 
2 1/4 cups flour
 
1 cup margarine or butter
 
1 1/3 cups sugar
 
1 egg, beaten
 
Salt
 
Grated rind of 1 lemon

Directions

Mix all ingredients together - knead well, or use mixer.
Pat into 9" layer pan and press designer squares into dough.
Bake at 350° for 35 minutes - turn on broiler for last 2 minutes to give it a light brown top crust.
