Dutch Apple Tart Recipe
This scrumptious Dutch apple tart is quite satisfying and fun to make. Decorate it generously and delight in the delicious bite!
Ingredients
2 cooking apples
1 tblspn, lemon juice
2 good tblspns, butter
short crust pastry
1 lb. dates sugar
ground cinnamon
Directions
Peel, core and slice the apples thinly.
Stone and chop dates.
Cook for a few minutes with a very little water and lemon juice.
Line a fairly deep tart plate with short crust pastry and prick ths bottom well.
Put in a layer of apple, sprinkle with brown sugar and cinna- mon, then spread a layer of dates over this, pouring 1 tblspn, of melted butter over the dates.
Repeat these two layers and cover the tart with a lid of pastry.
Brush over with milk and bake at 450° F for 20 minutes; then reduce the temperature to 300° F and bake for another 15 minutes.
Serve hot, or cold, with cream or custard.
