Dutch Apple Pie Recipe
Once you try this Dutch Apple Pie recipe, you will never go for another recipe again. I prefer to make Dutch Apple Pie as a Dessert for all my family get-togethers. The Dutch Apple Pie can be considered the gem of the Canadian cuisine. The goodness of Fruits makes Dutch Apple Pie a great treat. You don't have to be a gourmet to judge how mouth-watering and tasty this dish really is.
Ingredients
3 to 4 (about 1 lb.) tart cooking apples
1 unbaked 9 in. pie shell
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 cup heavy cream
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
4 teaspoons butter or margarine
1/2 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped
3/4 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
Directions
Wash, quarter, core, pare, and thinly slice apples.
Turn slices into unbaked pie shell.
Blend the egg, cream, and extract.
Gradually add a mixture of sugar, flour, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg, mixing well.
Pour over apples in pie shell.
Dot with butter.
Sprinkle walnuts over top.
Bake at 450°F 10 minutes; reduce oven temperature to 350°F and bake 35 to 40 minutes, or until apples are tender and top is lightly browned.
Remove from oven and sprinkle cheese over top
