Dutch Cheese And Shrimp Puffs Recipe
Ingredients
| Butter | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Water | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| All purpose flour | 1 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Eggs | 6 | |
| 2 cups shredded Gouda or Edam cheese | ||
| 1/2 cup tiny shrimp | ||
| Onion | 1 Tablespoon, chopped | |
| Salt | To Taste | |
| Pepper | 1 | |
| Dash of Tabasco | ||
| Oil for deep frying | ||
Directions
In a saucepan, bring butter and water to a boil.
Add flour and stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until batter leaves the sides of the saucepan.
Remove from heat and allow batter to cool to room temperature.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Stir in cheese, shrimp, onion, salt, pepper, and Tabasco.
In a deep frying pan, pour 2 inches of cooking oil.
Heat oil to 375°F.
Drop batter into hot oil by the spoonful.
Fry puffs until they are golden.
Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Serve warm in a napkin-lined dish.
