Dried Fruit Compote Recipe
The dried fruit compote is a sweet and fruity dessert made with cooked dry fruits in marsala or orange juice. Simmered to tenderness, the fruit compote can be served warm or chilled withsome whipped cream.
Ingredients
1 cup prunes 250 mL
1 cup dried apricots 250 mL
1/4 cup dried cherries 50 mL
1/4 cup chopped candied ginger 50 mL
1 cup Marsala or orange juice 250 mL
1/4 cup lemon juice 50 mL
1/2 cup maple syrup, honey or brown sugar 125 mL
1 cup water 250 mL
Directions
Place prunes, apricots, cherries, ginger, Marsala, lemon juice, maple syrup and water in saucepan.
Bring to boil.
Reduce heat and simmer gently for 10 to 15 minutes, or until fruit is tender.
Serve warm or cold.
