Ingredients

 
1 c. peanut or olive oil
 
4 c. onion, chopped
 
1/2 c. uncooked rice
 
1/2 c. water
 
1/2 c. parsley, chopped
 
1/4 c. currants or seedless raisins
 
1/4 c. pine nuts (optional)
 
1/4 c. tomato sauce
 
1/4 tsp. allspice
 
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
 
1 tbsp. salt
 
1/4 tsp. black pepper
 
Grape leaves

Directions

Stage1-Pour oil into cooking pot; add the onion and saute until golden brown.

Stage2-Add rice and water. Cook, covered, 30 minutes.

Stage3-Add all other ingredients except grape leaves; cook 5 minutes. Cool a little.

Stage4-Put a teaspoon of this mixture on each grape leaf and roll up.

Stage5-In bottom of baking pan, place some sliced onions, lemons, lettuce or grape leaves to prevent Dolmas from burning.

Stage6-Put Dolmas in pan, side by side.

Stage7-Put a large plate over them and pour enough water over to cover plate.

Stage8-Cook on low 50 minutes.

Stage9-Cool in pot. Chill.

Dolma come from many different countires in europe. Yhe word simply means "stuffed thing". Can be cabbage or grapeleaves.
