Beat egg with a fork and mix in water.
Dip each scallop first in bread crumbs, then in egg mixture, and again in crumbs.
Put breaded scallops into a baking dish and let stand about 30 minutes for coating to set.
Pour melted butter over scallops.
Bake at 450°F 30 minutes, or until crisp and brown.
