Deviled Shrimp Recipe
My love for Deviled Shrimp developed during high school days. If you have a lot of Shrimp on hand then you know its time to make some Deviled Shrimp. It is a great Side Dish. This Deviled Shrimp recipe is sure to sweep you off your feet!
Ingredients
3 cups water
1 medium-size yellow onion, chopped
1 medium-size stalk celery, chopped
6 allspice berries
6 black peppercorns
1 bay leaf
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 pound large shrimp in their shells, rinsed
1/2 recipe Tomato Salsa or 1 1/2 cups bottled salsa (optional)
Directions
1 In a large saucepan, bring the water, onion, celery, allspice, peppercorns, bay leaf, lemon juice, vinegar, red pepper, and salt to a boil over moderate heat.
Lower the heat and simmerfor 1 5 minutes.
Add the shrimp, bring the liquid to a boil, then simmer, stirring, for 1 to 2 minutes or until the shrimp are opaque and just firm to the touch.
Remove from the heat and let the shrimp cool in the liquid.
2 Shell and devein the shrimp
Arrange on a platter, and serve with the salsa on the side if desired.
