Ingredients

 
3 c. diced unpeeled tart apples
 
3/4 c. diced celery
 
2 tbsp. sugar
 
1/3 c. butter
 
6 c. cubed raisin bread
 
1 tsp. poultry seasoning
 
2 tsp. salt
 
1/4 tsp. marjoram
 
2 1/2 c. chicken broth
 
1 egg, beaten
 
6 loin pork chops ,1 1/2 in. thick
 
1/8 tsp. pepper
 
4 tbsp. flour

Directions

Combine apples, celery, sugar, butter and 1/3 cup water in saucepan.
Bring to a boil.
Cover; cook for 5 minutes.
Combine bread, poultry seasoning, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt and marjoram.
Combine 1/2 cup chicken broth and i;gg; add to bread mixture.
Add hot apple mixture; toss with fork to mix.
Turn into buttered 1 1/2 quart casserole.
Bake, uncovered, in 350-degree oven for 35 minutes.
Cut pocket next to bone on inside of chops.
Fill pocket with dressing.
Spread remaining dressing in greased baking dish.
Se- cure openings in chops with toothpick.
Sprinklechops with 1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper.
Place in baking pan, add 1 cup broth.
Bake, covered, at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
Uncover; bake for 30 minutes longer or until brown.
Remove chops to hot platter.
Pour off excess fat.
Add flour to pan drippings, stir- ring to blend.
Add remaining chicken broth and 1 cup water to mixture; cook for 5 minutes.
