Deluxe Baked Beans Recipe
Ingredients
450 grams (1 lb.) cabbage
3 large boiled potatoes
1 large can (450 grams) baked beans
50 grams (2 oz.) grated cooking cheese
1 teaspoon chilli sauce or chilli powder
2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
1 chopped onion
1 1/2 teacups white sauce
1 tablespoon ghee, butter, salt and pepper to taste
Directions
1. Cut the cabbage into big pieces.
2. Boil in salted water for 2 minutes.
3. Cut the potatoes into thick rounds and apply salt and pepper.
4. Add salt and pepper to the white sauce.
5. Heat the ghee in a vessel and fry the onions for a little time. Add the beans, tomato ketchup, chilli sauce and very little salt.
6. Grease a baking dish and arrange the cabbage leaves at the bottom. Cover the leaves with baked beans. Next, cover the beans with the potato rounds and top with the seasoned white sauce. Sprinkle the cheese on top. Dot with butter.
7. Bake in a hot oven at 400°F. for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Serve hot.
