Delicious Drop Scones Recipe
Ingredients
| SUNSWEET Pitted Prunes - 1/2 cup | ||
| All-purpose flour - 2 cups, sifted | ||
| Granulated Sugar | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Baking powder | 2 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 3/4 Teaspoon | |
| Baking soda | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Nutmeg | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Butter - 1/2 cup or margarine - 1/2 cup | ||
| Egg | 1 Large, beaten | |
| Buttermilk | 2/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Directions
GETTING READY
1. Preheat oven to 25ยบ Fahrenheit.
2. Using a knife snip prunes into small pieces.
3. Using a sieve, resift all dry ingredients to mix.
4. Separate 1 tablespoon of butter.
5. Line a sheet pan or cookie sheet with wax paper.
MAKING
6. In a large bowl, place the flour mixture and cut remaining butter over it until it is broken down to size of peas.
7. Stir in shipped prunes.
8. Stir in egg and buttermilk; mix just until the prunes are distributed evenly, do not over mix and make sure the batter is lumpy.
FINALISING
9. On the prepared sheet, using a disher, drop portions of batter on it.
10. Place the cookie sheet with scones into the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes until scones are crisp and well browned as desired.
SERVING
11. Serve Delicious Drop Scones with Devonshire tea or cream tea or cut horizontally and spoon whipped cream and place the top.
