Deep Dish Peach Pie Recipe

Ingredients
3 cups sliced fresh peaches or 1 can sliced peaches
1 cup water or peach syrup
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon cornstarch
vegetable shortening pastry for 1 crust pie
Directions
In saucepan, combine peaches, water or peach syrup, lemon juice, and cornstarch; cook and stir over medium heat until thickened and bubbly, about 5 minutes.
Pour mixture into 10x6x2 inch baking dish or 9 inch round or square baking dish.
Roll pastry to 1/2 inch larger than top of dish; place over peaches.
Flute edge and cut slits for escape of steam.
Bake at 425° for 15 to 20 minutes.
