Deep Dish Apple Pie Recipe
Ingredients
| Apples | 10 Cup (16 tbs), pared | |
| Sugar | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Flour | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Cinnamon | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Nutmeg | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Butter/Margarine | 3 Tablespoon | |
| Vegetable shortening pastry for 1 crust pie | ||
Directions
Place apples in 12x8x2 inch baking dish.
Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt; sprinkle over apples; mix lightly.
Dot with butter.
Roll pastry into a rectangle about 1 inch longer and 1 inch wider than baking dish.
Place over apples; flute edge and cut slits for escape of steam.
Brush crust with milk; lightly sprinkle crust with sugar.
Bake at 400° for 45 to 50 minutes.
