Fried Turkey Recipe Video
Ingredients
Deep-Fried Turkey
Olive oil
3 to4 gallons of oil (peanut or canola)
One 11- to 15-pound whole turkey
Cajun seasoning (Tony Chachere's)
Paprika
Fresh Ground Pepper
Directions
The night before you deep fry your turkey, coat it with olive oil, then generously cover it with Cajun seasoning, paprika, and fresh ground pepper. Let rest.
Before doing the dunk, make sure you are using the right amount of oil in the fryer. Fill the fryer with enough water so it covers your turkey. Then remove the turkey and mark the water level. This will let you know how much oil to use without overflow. Drain the water and add the correct amount of oil to the fryer. Heat to 350 degrees, then add turkey slowly. Your turkey should cook for 3 minutes per pound, plus an additional five minutes. Once you remove the turkey, let it rest for 15 to 20 minutes before carving. Have a great Thanksgiving.
