Deep Dish Pantry Apple Pie Recipe
Ingredients
| All purpose flour | 1 Tablespoon | |
| 1/2 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar | ||
| Granulated Sugar | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Ground nutmeg | 1 Teaspoon | |
| 5 cups (two 1-pound, 4-ounce cans) drained apple slices | ||
| Lemon juice | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Butter/Margarine | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Standard Pastry for 1-crust 9-inch pie, unbaked | ||
Directions
Mix first 4 ingredients and put one third of mixture in well-buttered deep baking dish.
Cover with half the apples.
Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon lemon juice and half of remaining sugar mixture.
Cover with remaining apples, lemon juice, and sugar mixture.
Dot with butter and cover with pastry rolled to fit baking dish, pressing pastry firmly against edge of dish to seal.
Make a few slits to allow steam to escape.
Bake in preheated hot oven (425°F.) for 40 to 50 minutes.
Serve warm.
