Ingredients
Pastry for 9-inch One-crust Pie
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
12 cups thinly sliced pared tart apples
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
Directions
Heat oven to 425°.
Prepare pastry as directed except roll into 10-inch square.
Fold in half; cut slits near center.
Stir together sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon and salt.
Mix lightly with apples.
Turn into ungreased square pan, 9 X 9 X 2 inches.
Dot with butter.
Cover with pastry; fold edges under just inside edges of pan.
Bake until crust is golden brown and juice begins to bubble through slits in crust, 50 to 60 minutes.
