Date Walnut Delights Recipe
Ingredients
8 oz (250 g) butter
1 cup coarsely chopped dates
1 cup coarsely grated walnuts
1 cup raw sugar
2 full cups self-raising flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Icing sugar
Directions
Melt and cool the butter.
In a large bowl, mix together the dates, walnuts, raw sugar, flour and cinnamon.
Add the melted butter and knead the mixture into a dough with your hands.
Make large walnut-sized balls with the dough and mould them into elongated shapes by squeez- ing each ball gently in the palm of your hand.
Cook on an ungreased tray in a moderate oven at 350°F (180°C) until lightly brown, for 20-30 minutes.
When cool, remove from the tray and liberally sift with icing sugar.
