Date Walnut Cake Recipe

Ingredients
1/3 cup walnut halves
1/2 lb pitted dates
3/4 cup soft margarine
1 scant cup soft light brown sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3 eggs
2 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons confectioner's sugar
Directions
Chop the walnuts coarsely .
Chop the dates finely .
Put the dates and walnuts to one side.
Cream the margarine and sugar until light and fluffy .
Sift together the flour and baking powder.
Add the eggs, one at a time, with a little of the flour and milk through the feeder tube, mixing for 10 seconds after each addition.
Add the remaining flour and mix just long enough for the flour to be incorporated.
Stir in the dates and nuts.
Put the mixture in a 9 X 5 X 3-inch greased loaf pan, and bake at 325°F for 1 1/2 hours.
Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out on to a wire rack to finish cooling.
Sift the confectioner's sugar over the top just before serving.
