Ingredients

 
1 cup chopped dates
 
2 cups hot water
 
4 tblspns, butter
 
1/2-cup brown sugar
 
1/2-tspn. vanilla
 
pinch salt
 
1/4-cup quick-cooking tapioca

Directions

Cook tapioca in water until transparent, add sugar, salt, vanilla, butter and stir until melted.
Lastly, add dates and pour into a buttered baking dish and bake for 30 minutes at 350° F.
Serve with cream.

Very good comfort food. However it was too sweet for me, even though I'd cut the sugar in half. Next time I'll cut it down even less, as the dates go a long way to sweetening this delicious dessert.
