Date Spice Cake Recipe
Date Spice Cake is a great option for a snack. Baked with a combination of dates, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves, this cake has a delicious "spicy" twist to it! A highly recommended recipe, I'm certain you too will enjoy it.
Ingredients
Buttermilk - 1 cup
Dates - 1 cup, diced
Sifted all-purpose flour - 2 cups
Salt - 1/2 tsp.
Soda - 1 tsp.
Cinnamon - 1 tsp.
Nutmeg - 1/2 tsp.
Cloves - 1/4 tsp.
Butter - 1/2 cup
Brown sugar - 1 1/2 cups (packed)
Eggs - 2
Directions
GETTING READY
1) Grease and flour a 9-inch square pan.
MAKING
2) In a bowl, add the buttermilk over dates and allow to stand.
3) Combine and sift the flour, salt, soda, and spices together.
4) Cream together the butter and sugar till light and fluffy.
5) Add in the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
6) Add in the dry ingredients alternating with the date mix, beating till smooth after each addition.
7) Transfer into the square pan.
8) Place in the oven at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes, till the cake tests done.
SERVING
9) Slice and serve topped with whipped cream.
