Ingredients

 Quick-cooking rolled oats1 Cup (16 tbs)
 Dates1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped
 Milk1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs), scalding
 Flour2 Cup (32 tbs)
 Baking powder4 Teaspoon
 Salt1 Teaspoon
 Egg1
 Light corn syrup3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)

Directions

Add rolled oats and dates to the milk; let stand for 10 minutes.
Add the egg beaten slightly and corn syrup.
Mix and sift the dry ingredients.
Add the milk mixture, stirring only enough to blend well.
Bake in a greased loaf pan in a moderate oven (350 F ) for 1 hour.
