Date Pie Recipe
Date Pie is simply irresistible, to say the least! Try this Date Pie; I am sure you'll have a huge fan following for this one.
Ingredients
10 tablespoons butter
1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
1 2/3 cups oatmeal
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 pound pitted dates
Directions
Beat the butter in a bowl until light and fluffy.
Add the flour, oatmeal, brown sugar and egg and knead into a smooth dough.
Chop the dates finely, reserving a few whole dates for garnish.
Press half the dough into a well buttered 8 inch cake tin.
Sprinkle with the chopped dates and cover with the remaining dough.
Top with the reserved whole dates.
Bake in a preheated 375° oven for about 1 hour.
Let the "pie" cool in the tin.
