Date Dessert Loaf Recipe
Ingredients
| Boiling water | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Dates | 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Flour | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), sifted | |
| Baking soda | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| 1 cup chopped walnut meats | ||
| Egg | 1 | |
| Sugar | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Melted butter | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Vanilla | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
Directions
Pour water over dates.
Sift flour, soda and salt together and add walnut meats.
Beat egg and beat in sugar.
Add butter and vanilla.
Stir into date mixture and add flour and nuts.
Turn into buttered loaf pan and bake in slow oven (250°F.) 1 1/4 hours.
Serve hot or cold with Fluffy Brandy Sauce.
