Date Cake Recipe
How is it that you still haven't tried my recipe for Date Cake. This is the best recipe of date I have ever made. It is the perfect choice for Dessert. Please try out this Date Cake recipe. I am waiting to know how it worked for you.
Ingredients
16 Oz. Can Applesauce
1 Pkg. Pitted Dates, cut up
1 & 3/4 Tsp. Baking Soda
1/2 Cups Unsifted Flour
1/4 Tsp. Salt
1/2 Cup Shortening
1 Cup Plus 2 Tbs. Sugar
2 Eggs
6 Oz. Pkg. Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
1/2 Cup Chopped Walnut Meats
Directions
Grease and flour a baking pan 13x9x2".
In a medium saucepan, bring applesauce to a boil, remove from heat, stir in dates and 1 tsp.soda.
Cool.
On waxed paper, thoroughly stir together the flour, remaining 3/4 tsp soda and the salt.
In a large mixing bowl cream shortening and 1 c.sugar; stir in applesauce mixture.
Turn into prepared pan.
Stir together the remaining 2 tbs sugar, chocolate chips and nuts.
Sprinkie over cake batter.
Bake in preheated 350 degree oven until a cake tester inserted in center comes out free of batter.
Cool cake in pan on wire rack; cut in pan.
