Date And Nut Loaf Recipe
Ingredients
6 oz. chopped dates
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. bicarbonate of soda
4 oz. S.R. flour
1/4 pt. boiling water
2 oz. plain flour
1 egg
2 oz. chopped walnuts
2 oz. brown sugar
Directions
Put dates and soda in a basin and pour over the hot water.
Leave to cool.
Mix dry ingredients together with the beaten egg and date mixture, with additional water to make a soft consistency.
Bake in a greased tin until firm in the middle.
Keep at least a day before cutting in thin slices and spreading with butter or margarine.
