Ingredients

 Golden delicious apples, halved
 Flour2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Salt1/2 Teaspoon
 Baking powder1 1/2 Teaspoon
 Shortening1/2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Milk2/3 Cup (16 tbs)
 Sugar & cinnamon in equal amounts butter
 Sugar2 Cup (16 tbs) (Topping:)
 Water2 Cup (16 tbs) (Topping:)
 Butter1/2 Cup (16 tbs) (Topping:)

Directions

Mix flour, salt, baking soda, shortening and milk together to form dough.
Roll out dough thicker than pie crust.
Cut into circles or squares.
Place half an apple on each square.
Add 1 tsp. sugar and cinnamon and a small pat of butter on each apple.
Fold dough over apple and place in buttered baking dish.
Topping: Mix sugar and water.
Add butter and bring to boil.
Pour topping over dumplings.
Bake at 350° for 1 hr.
