Dark Fruit Cake Recipe
Ingredients
| Butter | 1 Pound | |
| Brown sugar | 1 Pound | |
| Eggs | 10 , Well beaten (Add:) | |
| 1/2 cup fruit juice | ||
| I cup strawberry jam (add after adding a little flour mixture) | ||
| Flour | 1 Pound (Sift together:) | |
| Cinnamon | 4 Teaspoon (Sift together:) | |
| Allspice | 2 Teaspoon (Sift together:) | |
| Nutmeg | 2 Teaspoon (Sift together:) | |
| Cloves | 2 Teaspoon (Sift together:) | |
| Soda | 2 Teaspoon (Sift together:) | |
| Dates | 1 Pound (Sift together:) | |
| Peel | 1 1/2 Pound, mixed (Sift together:) | |
| Seedless raisins | 2 Pound (Sift together:) | |
| 1 lb. bleached sultana raisins | ||
| Cherries | 1 Pound (Sift together:) | |
| Blanched almonds | 1 Pound (Sift together:) | |
| Pineapple rings | 6 (Sift together:) | |
Directions
Add to first mixture.
Prepare the following fruit, sprinkle lightly with flour and add last.
Line pans with 2 layers brown paper, buttered and floured on inside.
Fill pans § full.
Bake in slow oven 275° F.
6 hours (for large cake), or according to size of tins.
Place small pan of water in oven during baking for moisture.
Brown paper may also be placed over top of cakes.
