Dark Fruit Cake Recipe
Tickle your taste buds with this Dark Fruit Cake recipe. I never fail to eat Dessert while dining out and this is the most common dish that I order. If you have a lot of Fruits on hand then you know its time to make some Dark Fruit Cake. With easily procurable ingredients this Dark Fruit Cake recipe is a must try.
Ingredients
1 lb. butter
1 lb. brown sugar
Cream together:
Add:
10 eggs, well beaten
1/2 cup fruit juice
I cup strawberry jam (add after adding a little flour mixture)
Sift together:
1 lb. flour
4 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons allspice
2 teaspoons nutmeg
2 teaspoons cloves
2 teaspoons soda
1 lb. dates
1 1/2 lbs. mixed peel
2 pounds seedless raisins
1 lb. bleached sultana raisins
1 lb. cherries
1 lb. almonds (blanched and dried in oven)
6 pineapple rings
Directions
Add to first mixture.
Prepare the following fruit, sprinkle lightly with flour and add last.
Line pans with 2 layers brown paper, buttered and floured on inside.
Fill pans § full.
Bake in slow oven 275° F.
6 hours (for large cake), or according to size of tins.
Place small pan of water in oven during baking for moisture.
Brown paper may also be placed over top of cakes.
