Ingredients

 
Applesauce – 1 quart
 
Toasted Breadcrumbs – 2 cups
 
Egg Yolks – 3, beaten
 
Melted Butter – 1/3 cup
 
Cinnamon – ½ teaspoon
 
Sugar – 6 tablespoons
 
Egg Whites – 3
 
Vanilla Extract – ½ teaspoon

Directions

MAKING
1) In a bowl mix together the applesauce, toasted breadcrumbs, beaten egg yolks, butter, cinnamon and sugar
2) Spread the mixture in a 2 quart casserole and bake for 45 minutes at 325F
3) Take out from the oven and keep aside
4) Meanwhile using an electric beater whip the egg whites till stiff
5) Add in the sugar and continue to beat till the egg whites stand in peaks
6) Tip in the vanilla extract
7) Top the apple bake with the meringue and return to bake for 15 minutes ill the top is tinged brown

SERVING
8) Serve at room temperature with some chilled custard
