1 medium head (about 2 pounds or 907 g) red cabbage, cut in wedges
 
1/4 cup (50 ml) butter or margarine
 
1/2 cup (125 ml) water
 
1/3 cup (75 ml) vinegar
 
1/3 cup (75 ml) red currant jelly
 
1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt
 
1/2 teaspoon (2 ml) caraway seed or celery seed

Directions

Assemble Salad Maker with Thick Slicer Disc.
Process cabbage (about 1 1/2 quarts or 1.5 liters) into 4-quart (4 liter) saucepan.
Add remaining ingredients and stir.
Bring to a boil over medium heat, reduce heat, and simmer covered for 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally; if cabbage looks dry, add a little more water.
