Ingredients
Whole moong dal -1/2 cup, pre-soaked
Water -2 1/2 cups
Salt- to taste
Turmeric powder -1/2 teaspoon
Green ginger -1/2 teaspoon, grated
Garlic -4 cloves
Tomatoes-1/2 pound, sliced
Garam masala -1/2 teaspoon
Ghee-1/4 cup
Onion -1 small, chopped
White cumin seeds -1/2 teaspoon
Green chili-1 small, chopped
To Make Dough
Wheat flour-2 cups
Dash of salt
Water-as needed
Directions
GETTING READY
1)Clean and wash the dal.
MAKING
2)In a deep saucepan, add dal and water, turmeric and salt. Cover and cook it on medium heat for 30 minutes.
3)In a bowl, add wheat flour and salt. Mix water and make soft dough.
4)Divide the dough into 8 portions. Roll each one into 3 inch/7 1/2 cm diameter disc.
5)Then, slowly add the discs into dal and cook for 10-15 minutes on medium heat.
6)In a small pan, heat ghee and sauté onion, garlic and cumin seeds until golden.
7)Turn off heat and add red chilli powder. Pour it into dal and mix.
SERVING
8)Serve the dal puri into individual dishes and sprinkle lemon juice and coriander.
