Directions

Wash and soak daals together and about an hour.
Mix all ingredients for bati and make dough and let it rest for an hour.
Cook dal with turmeric and oil. Add water 2-3 cups.
Also add cinnamon, cardamom, bay leaf and cloves.
Pressure cook dal on high heat until a whistle and then simmer for 15 minutes.
Make balls of the dough for bati. Flatten them a bit.
Bake them in preheated oven at 350 F for 20 minutes.
Turn the batis after 20 minutes and cook for another 15 minutes.
To season dal, heat ghee in a pan. Add chilis, mustard and cumin along with asofetida.
Add ginger and garam masala pieces.
Add amchur powder and now add dal, some water and salt.
Boil for 3-4 minutes.
Dal and bati are ready. Garnish dal.
To serve butter the batis and pour some dal over it.
