Custard Sauce Recipe
Ingredients
1 cup milk
2 egg yolks
2 tablespoons sugar, Pinch of salt
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
Heat milk in top of double boiler until small bubbles form around edge.
Beat egg yolks, sugar and salt together, and add to the hot milk.
Turn heat low, so that water in bottom stays hot but not rapidly boiling.
Cook mixture, stirring, until it coats a metal spoon.
Remove from heat, and add vanilla.
If custard curdles, beat with rotary beater until smooth.
Cover, and chill thoroughly.
Makes approximately 1 cup sauce.
